The experience of a person passing from separation to unity is fascinating and extraordinary. He will alternate between feelings of ecstasy, which arise in reclaiming the whole of life, and feelings of death, which are associated with the loss of his separated self. The memory of death is very much alive in the individual who transmutes in light. This is because she actually experiences the mental and emotional equivalent of death as she has experienced it before. She loses everything she thought she was. She thought she was tall, nervous, and musically gifted. She thought she was English, from a small town, and named Brown. But she has begun to realize that in essence she is everything and nothing. She has begun to realize that she simply is. The only account of herself that truly makes sense to her now seems incomprehensible to everyone around her: I am.
